Generation information
Savannahs are commonly described as an F1, F2, etc. Each generation of Savannahs is labeled with a foundation or 'filial' number. For example, a Savannah with a Serval as a parent is an F1 and typically has 50% serval genes. An F2 Savannah has a serval as a grandparent, the F3 has a serval as a great grandparent, and so on.  In order to have true registered breed of cat. The Savannah breeders must move beyond foundation cats and achieve SBT status.  This is the ultimate goal for the breed.

F1 - F1 Savannah kittens are the result of breeding between an African Serval and a domestic cat or a Savannah, the resulting kitten is an F1 Savannah kitten.

F2 - F2 Savannah kittens are the result of breeding an F1 Savannah cat with an appropriate male,
the resulting kitten is an F2 Savannah kitten. Our F2 kittens are produced by breeding our F1 Savannah with our F5 Savannah for maximum Savannah traits and disposition.

F3 - F3 Savannah kittens are the result of breeding an F2 Savannah cat with an appropriate male
, the resulting kitten is an F3 Savannah kitten.

F4 - F4 Savannah kittens are the result of breeding an F3 Savannah cat with an appropriate male
, the resulting kitten is an F4 Savannah kitten.

F5 - F5 Savannah kittens are the result of breeding an F4 Savannah cat with an appropriate male
, the resulting kitten is an F5 Savannah kitten. Savannah cat to Savannah cat is best for maximum Savannah traits and disposition.

The A, B, C, and SBT indicates the amount of out-crossing to other breeds.

A is the first level or starting point,
B is one generation closer to the goal,
C is only one generation away from the goal of:
SBT Savannah - the fully recognized breed of cat!

An A Savannah is the son or daughter of two different registered breeds.  Because the Savannah goes back to the Serval as its cornerstone, the Serval may be included in this equation.  One generation of Savannah breeding.

A B Savannah is the grandchild of two different registered breeds. Two generations of Savannah to Savannah breeding.

A C Savannah is the great grand child of two different registered breeds.
Three generations of Savannah to Savannah breeding.

The SBT Savannah is four generations and beyond of Savannah to Savannah breeding!  SBT is the ultimate goal for this new breed -- as it is the fully registered breed of cat!

Please note: Due to genetics, generally the first four generations of male Savannah cats are sterile.  This means they can not be bred. However, these cats make great pets because they tend to be larger than their female counterparts.  You'll get lots of attention when you're out for a walk or if you bring this animal to the pet store on a leash.  Reserve yours today!
